Summarizes global topology and per-node centrality, identifies hubs, bottlenecks and community structure, and classifies nodes into connectivity roles following Guimera and Amaral (2005) . Extracts interpretable subnetworks around a set of nodes, including approximate Steiner trees after Kou, Markowsky and Berman (1981) . Propagates influence from seed nodes using Laplacian smoothing, heat-kernel and random-walk-with-restart diffusion, with degree-matched permutation nulls, and simulates network robustness under progressive node removal. Observed metrics, including the small-world coefficient, can be tested against degree-preserving random ensembles for statistical significance. Edge weights are supported throughout, with an explicit declaration of whether a weight means strength or distance. Matrix operations use sparse representations throughout so that the methods remain usable on large graphs. authors: - family-names: Gallinat given-names: Alex email: alex.gaoc@gmail.com preferred-citation: type: manual title: 'netkit: Network Topology, Diffusion and Robustness Analysis' authors: - family-names: Gallinat given-names: Alex email: alex.gaoc@gmail.com year: '2026' notes: R package version 0.1.2 url: https://agallinat.github.io/netkit repository: https://agallinat.r-universe.dev repository-code: https://github.com/agallinat/netkit commit: 2b2e05a4ee78834c9e79e3b3970466feb742b2f4 url: https://agallinat.github.io/netkit date-released: '2026-10-16' contact: - family-names: Gallinat given-names: Alex email: alex.gaoc@gmail.com keywords: - network analysis - graph theory - igraph - centrality - hubs - bottlenecks - community detection - modularity - network diffusion - random walk with restart - heat kernel - network propagation - null models - small-world - network robustness - network visualization
